Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a new graduate or current Band 5 podiatrist wanting to develop their career, As a developmental Band 5 Podiatrist role progressing to Band 6 on successful completion of competencies. First Community Health & Care (FCHC) promote continued learning through supported internal training as well as access to external academic courses.

We are seeking a new member of the team to join our patient-centered, progressive team in supporting us deliver a First rate podiatry service with high quality holistic care to our local population of East Surrey.

The FCHC Podiatrists provide specialist podiatric care as essential members of the Multidisciplinary Diabetic Foot Team service for acute inpatient and outpatient referrals. Working directly with the Vascular, Endocrinology and Microbiology teams. We have a close working relationship with the community and hospital-based Tissue Viability Nurse teams with weekly joint care. Within the Musculoskeletal specialty we have direct access to the ICATS team and promote joint holistic approach to patient care with other health professionals. We run weekly joint podiatry and orthotist clinics along with the ability to arrange as required joint assessment appointments with the physiotherapy teams.

Main duties of the job

The post involves working autonomously with a wide-range of patients focusing on foot protection caseload and wound care at a specialist level including supporting the High Risk lead provide specialist podiatry intervention at East Surrey Hospital. Direct access to advanced wound care treatments including a range of offloading appliances.

The caseload will involve management of non-specialist wound care and shared care of specialist wound care patients with complex medical needs. The role will involve rotations within nail surgery & High Risk podiatry clinics as well as the opportunity to work with the Lead clinicians in both Multi-Disciplinary Diabetic Foot Care and Musculoskeletal care.

The successful applicant will be expected to provide care in both clinical and domiciliary settings taking a pro-active approach in the assessment and management of a foot protection patient caseload.

You will have the opportunity to broaden your experience and work within a supportive and stimulating multidisciplinary service across both primary and secondary care.

We are recruiting podiatrists with an interest in Diabetic/ High Risk foot protection at various levels (from band 5-7). We are looking for clinical staff who are passionate about the care they deliver to patients and who want to make a real difference.
