CSH Surrey

GP - Non Exec Director

The closing date is 19 April 2026

Job summary

Are you a practicing or recently retired General Practitioner (GMC registered) with extensive clinical leadership and governance experience gained at either Board or senior executive level? CSH Surrey, the first social enterprise and employee-owned community healthcare provider in the U.K., is recruiting a GP Non-executive Director to join our Board and provide senior clinical oversight.

The Role

As a Non-Executive Director and Board member, you will bring independent challenge, strategic insight, and clinical expertise to support CSH Surrey in delivering safe, sustainable, and high-performing services. You will play a key role in assuring clinical quality and patient safety.

About You

You should have a proven track record of operating at a strategic level, with the ability to balance clinical excellence with the commercial realities of a social enterprise.

Diversity and Location - We strongly encourage applications from candidates who reflect the diversity of the communities we serve. While CSH Surrey operates across North-West Surrey, we welcome applications from candidates based locally or in neighbouring localities.

Closing date - Sunday 19th April

Interview date - Monday 11th May

Please note that we do NOT offer UKVI sponsorship for this post, and so all applicants require a current right to work in the UK

Main duties of the job

The Board of Directors is legally responsible for the activities of CSH Surrey.

The Articles of Association for CSH Surrey (available on request) outline the structure of CSH Surrey, and the relationships with the CSH Guardian Trust, and the Voice.

Non-executive directors play a crucial role in bringing an independent perspective to the Board room in addition to any specific knowledge and skills they may have. Non-executive directors have a duty to uphold the highest standards of integrity and probity and to foster good relations in the board room. They should apply similar standards of care and skill in their role as a non-executive director as they would in similar roles elsewhere.

Non-executive directors are expected to participate fully as members of committees of the Board of Directors to which they are appointed and to take the role of Committee Chair when so appointed. There are currently six board committees that hold meetings throughout the year at varying frequencies. The Board also holds away days for strategy and other discussions, and non-executive directors may be asked to attend other meetings internal and external to CSH Surrey. Non-executive directors will also be expected to visit CSH teams and speak to colleagues, patients and their families: a DBS check will be required.
