Job summary
CSH Surrey, the first social enterprise and employee-owned community healthcare provider in the U.K., is currently recruiting for a Chair to join the organisation in March 2026.
The Chair will join our new CEO, Renee Padfield and will lead the board, guide the strategic direction and help to steer the organisations future.
Aligning with the NHS 10 Year Health Plan for England, and the necessary shift on moving care from hospitals to the community, this is an excellent opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of community healthcare services for a population of over 500,000 across Surrey.
Leading a diverse Board of Executive and non-Executive directors, you will provide leadership, ensuring the Boardplays its full part in shaping and delivering an ambitious strategy while upholding the highest standards of governance, openness and constructive challenge.

Main duties of the job
Key responsibilities include:
- Holding the Chief Executive to account for operational and financial performance
- Leading the long-term sustainability and growth of our unique employee-owned model
- Chairing Boardand Nominations Committee meetings and setting a forward-looking agenda
- Promoting a culture of inclusion, collaboration and excellence
- Building effective relationships with colleagues, patients, NHS partners, regulators and the wider community

- A proven ability to operate effectively at Board level in a complex organisation
- Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and influencing abilities
- Commitment to the values of public service and co-ownership
- Understanding of governance in regulated environments
