Job summary

Following a retendering process, the children's service is due to be transferred to the new provider on the 1st of April 2025. Given this post sits within the transferring service, in line with the legislative requirements, the successful candidate will be part of the TUPE transfer along with other colleagues.

Are you an enthusiastic Physiotherapy apprentice seeking a Band 5 Physiotherapist at registration who is keen to develop specialist skills in Paediatrics.

Our service provides assessment and therapy intervention for children and young people aged 0-19 who present with developmental, neurological and neuromuscular conditions. The post involves flexible working across a variety of community settings including special schools, mainstream schools and nurseries, childrens homes and out-patient clinics. The work is varied, interesting and extremely rewarding.

The team enjoys close working relationships with the wider MDT and there are opportunities to work alongside specialists in their field in a variety of clinics including lycra, orthotics and orthopaedics. You will develop specialist knowledge of complex physical disability and skills in the prescription and set up of specialist equipment, report writing e.g. Education and Health Care Plans (EHCP) and will have access to a wide range of resources including Outcome Measures.

Job description

Job responsibilities

1. To provide support and advice for the childs family and parents in all aspects of their

care that relate to their therapy needs, adjusting use of language to allow for their level ofcomprehension to understand.

2. To provide and receive complex and sensitive information with regard to a childs difficulties and expectations.

3. To attend meetings where requested in order to provide advice about the therapy needs of the child. To arrange these meetings when appropriate.

4. To be able to demonstrate empathy and sensitivity in response to parents and children.

5. To work closely with parents who are themselves dealing with anger, grief and frustrationas they come to terms with the impact of their childs condition with support from a seniorclinician as appropriate.

6. To provide therapy reports for use within inter-agencies, e.g. educational documentationrelevant to the practice setting, standards and guidelines

7. To ensure that up to date written electronic records and activity are maintained inaccordance with the professional and organisation standards

8. To provide programmes on a verbal, written basis or using pictorial representation asrequired to ensure these programmes are accessible to parents/ carers

9. To interpret assessment results and identify therapy goals as part of an overall care planwith support where appropriate.
