This is an exciting opportunity to join our small, highly specialist paediatric physiotherapy team to provide services in the community including clinics, home and education environments.
Applicants may be for a Band 6 role or as a development post for a Band 5 progressing to a Band 6 depending on experience. If you are newly qualified or don't have paediatric experience you will start as a Band 5 on the Band 5 payscale.

Main duties of the job
As part of the Paediatric Therapy team, you will autonomously manage complex childrens' needs. This will involve specialist assessment and intervention provisions including equipment of children with complex needs.
You will be responsible for the delivery of services ensuring performance targets are met and the safety and clinical governance.

Job description
Job responsibilities
1. To provide support and advice for the child's family and parents in all aspects of their care that relate to their therapy needs, adjusting use of language to allow for their level of comprehension to understand.
2. To provide and receive complex and sensitive information with regard to a child's difficulties and expectations.
3. To attend meetings where requested in order to provide advice about the therapy needs of the child. To arrange these meetings when appropriate.
4. To be able to demonstrate empathy and sensitivity in response to parents and children.
5. To work closely with parents who are themselves dealing with anger, grief and frustration as they come to terms with the impact of their child's condition with support from a senior clinician as appropriate.
6. To provide therapy reports for use within inter-agencies, e.g. educational documentation relevant to the practice setting, standards and guidelines
7. To ensure that up to date written electronic records and activity are maintained in accordance with the professional and organisation standards
8. To provide programmes on a verbal, written basis or using pictorial representation as required to ensure these programmes are accessible to parents/carers
9. To interpret assessment results and identify therapy goals as part of an overall care plan with support where appropriate.
10. To contribute to the child's diagnosis by communicating assessment findings to the child's paediatrician, parents/carers and other involved professionals.
11. Ensure that children and parents/carers are involved with planning and implementation of their care plans wherever possible
12. To make referrals to other professionals and agencies if required to address the child's global needs.
