Job summary

Are you a registered nurse or midwife?Do you share our passion for improving outcomes for children, young people and their families? If your answer is yes, then this could be the perfect opportunity for you! CSH is part of the Children and Family Health partnership along with First Community and we are looking for qualified nurses or midwives who are interested in training to become Health Visitors. This is a one year, full time course run with Surrey University. You will spend 50% of time in practice and 50% at the University, in order to complete both practice and theoretical elements to the course. The course runs from September 2023 until September 2024. To complete the course, applicants must be able to meet the academic requirements of Surrey University and must be available for the whole year. Interviews will be held from May 2023.

Placement will be agreed after successful interview and will be Surrey-wide. Successful applicants will complete their practical training within one of several Surrey bases, and this will be discussed at interview

Main duties of the job

Maintain confidentiality at all times, following organisational sickness and absence policy.

Undertake duties allocated by practice assessor/supervisor, being flexible as needed and writing records within expectations

Work collaboratively with the skill mixed health visiting team & wider multidisciplinary team ensuring equity of service provision, promoting good practice and the sharing of resources.

Participate in the delivery of the Healthy Child programme 0-5 & well child clinics.

Participate to identify/ support children and families who have unmet health needs, providing support and targeted interventions and where necessary referring to specialist services.

Take appropriate action in cases of suspected or actual child abuse, working within Surrey safeguarding childrens code of practice and procedures, attending child protection conferences/core groups as required with practice teacher or agreed 0-19 health care professional Participate in clinical audit and evaluation of service Work in accordance with the needs of the service, undertake other duties as required within current skill set
