This post is based at the Jarvis Centre in Guildford but you will cover SW Surrey (Guildford and Waverley).
We firmly believe that the best services for the children we serve come out of effectively training and supporting our Therapists. As such you will be supported by the following:
- Regular supervision with your line manager
- A rolling programme of in-house training to update your knowledge and skills throughout the year
- Working as part of a team
You will work from various venues e.g. clinics (Jarvis in Guildford or out of Farnham Hospital and Centre for Health in Farnham), schools (including special schools), nurseries and the child's home within SW Surrey.
This is a challenging and varied role. Day to day you will be conducting assessments, writing reports (Initial, Review and EHC assessments) and running therapy sessions (groups or individual) for a varied population of 0-19 year olds including children with complex physical and neurodevelopmental conditions.
Applicants will need to be able to travel between sites across South West Surrey.
Main duties of the job
You will be part of the Paediatric Therapy team and will autonomously manage a complex caseload ofchildren with a range of varied and complex needs. This will involve specialist assessment and treatment of children with complex needs.
As part of your role you will be involved in:
- Supporting and line-managing less experienced members of the team
- Organising and co-ordinating a small team within your local area
- Conducting Multi-disciplinary assessments
- Delivering training to parents, HVs or Nurseries
- Devise child centred therapy plans using evidence based practice to ensure that the individuals full potential is developed or maintained
- Supporting the OT Advice Line
- Working with specialist caseloads (aged 0-19) such as children with complex neuro-disability and neurodevelopmental difficulties impacting on day to day functional occupations.
