Hours: 18.75 hours per week Pro Rata term time only. Hours worked over 3 days 08:45 - 15:30.

Due to relocation an opportunity has arisen for a qualified (children's, Learning disability or adult) nurse to join our innovative team within this exciting role. This post is based at Pond Meadow School for pupils aged 2-19 years who have severe learning disability with additional health needs and is part of Specialist School Nursing Service Surrey.

You will be part of a small nursing team working in partnership with education so school staff are supported to enable children and young people to safely attend school irrespective of their additional health needs. We ask that the ideal candidate has experience of working with children with special needs and has a passion for working with children to bring about positive health outcomes.

Main duties of the job

These include;

Responding to medical emergencies

Training educational staff in nursing procedures including gastrostomy and seizure management

Overseeing medication management

Contributing and attending within multi agency including safeguarding meetings

Care planning

Delivery of Nurse led clinics

Supporting families and being advocate for child/ young person.

  • RN Child / RSCN, RN Adult, RN (Learning Disability) with experience of nursing children/ learning disability

Desirable

  • Reliable flexible team player

  • Minimum of 1 year post registration experience
  • Evidence of professional development
  • Experience of participating in clinical audit

Desirable

  • Consolidated clinical nurse training and experience of caring for sick children/young people or learning disability for 1 year post qualification
  • Experience of tracheostomy ventilation, gastrostomy care, epilepsy
  • Evidence of broad clinical experiences
  • Mentorship preparation (supervisor assessor)
  • Management/leadership qualification.
  • Experience of working in community health setting children or learning disability
