Job summary
Are you a dedicated care professional with specialist clinical skills, looking for a role where you can make a profound difference every day?
Harrow and Brent Special Needs Transport (HBSNT) is seeking five compassionate and highly-skilled Specialist Healthcare Passenger Assistants to join our vital service. This is not a standard passenger assistant role; you will be the crucial clinical expert on board, providing emergency care and reassurance to children and vulnerable adults with complex health needs during their transport to and from educational settings.
Your specialist skills in areas like emergency medication administration (including Buccal Midazolam), suction care, and British Sign Language will be essential in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our most vulnerable service users. If you are looking for a rewarding career that values your unique clinical expertise and offers the satisfaction of providing a lifeline to your community, we would love to hear from you.
Main duties of the job
Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the clinical safety and wellbeing of vulnerable passengers during their journey. You will be the designated specialist on board, providing essential medical care as needed. Key duties include:
Administering emergency medication, including Buccal Midazolam, to passengers experiencing seizures.
Providing specialist care for individuals with severe epilepsy and performing emergency suction procedures.
Utilising British Sign Language (BSL) to communicate effectively with non-verbal passengers.
Working collaboratively with a dedicated driver and passenger assistant to manage the route.
Adhering strictly to individual healthcare plans and protocols to deliver consistent, high-quality care.
This role is dynamic and essential, offering a unique opportunity to apply your clinical skills in a community-focused environment.
