Main duties of the job

As a Clinical Lead, your main duties will centre on leadership and the delivery of high-quality care. You will be responsible for assessing complex patient needs, developing comprehensive care plans, and providing specialist clinical interventions. A key part of your role will be to offer supervision and professional guidance to junior nursing staff, fostering a supportive and effective team environment. You will also act as a pivotal link within the multi-disciplinary team, collaborating closely with prison staff, psychologists, and other health professionals to ensure seamless, integrated care for all patients. Maintaining the highest standards of clinical governance and safety within the secure environment is fundamental to this role.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse (RNLD or RMN) with a valid NMC pin.
  • Substantial post-registration experience in a mental health or learning disability setting.
  • Proven experience in a leadership or senior clinical role, demonstrating the ability to supervise and support others.
  • Excellent knowledge of mental health legislation, risk assessment, and care planning.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • The ability to work effectively under pressure within a complex and secure environment.
  • A current, active Prison Clearance is an essential requirement for this post.
