Main duties of the job

As a Clinical Lead, your core duties will be to provide strong clinical leadership and expert mental health care. You will be responsible for the comprehensive assessment, formulation, and delivery of specialist interventions for a diverse patient caseload. A key part of your role will be to provide professional supervision, guidance, and support to junior members of the nursing team, fostering a culture of continuous learning.

You will act as a senior clinical point of contact, coordinating care and making sound decisions in a complex environment. You will also actively contribute to the development of the service and work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the highest standards of safe, effective, and compassionate care are consistently delivered.

  • Multi-Disciplinary Working:Act as a key senior contact within the multi-disciplinary team (MDT), collaborating with healthcare, prison staff, and external agencies to coordinate seamless patient care.

  • Service Development:Contribute to the ongoing development and evaluation of clinical services, participating in clinical audit and promoting best practices.

  • Clinical Governance:Uphold high standards of clinical governance, ensuring all care is delivered safely, effectively, and compassionately in line with professional and prison security protocols.

  • A valid professional registration as a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with the NMC.
  • Substantial post-registration experience working in a mental health setting.
  • Proven experience in a senior or leadership capacity (e.g., Band 6 or equivalent), including supervising others.
  • Experience in conducting complex risk assessments and formulating management plans.
  • The ability to work autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
