Main duties of the job

Are you a fully qualified and GDC-registered Dental Nurse looking for a varied and rewarding role where your advanced skills make a real difference?

We are seeking two dedicated Band 4 Dental Nurses to join our dynamic NHS service in Peterborough. This is a unique opportunity to be at the heart of patient care, providing essential chair-side assistance while also playing a key role in community outreach and clinical administration.

You will be a crucial part of our team, ensuring the smooth running of our surgeries and supporting a wide range of treatments. Your role will extend beyond the clinic, as you will also assist with school screening programmes and support our GA lists at Addenbrookes Hospital, offering incredible variety.

Working Pattern:

  • Post 1:Monday Friday, 37.5 hours per week (08.30-17.00)

Working Pattern

One position to cover Monday to Friday thirty seven point five hours per week eight thirty to seventeen hundred

One position to cover Monday and Tuesday only fifteen hours per week eight thirty to seventeen hundred

An enhanced DBS check is required for this role

Essential Skills

You must hold the National Certificate for Dental Nurses or its equivalent and be registered with the General Dental Council without this your application cannot be considered

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Provide skilled chair-side assistance to the dentist anticipating needs and ensuring patient comfort throughout all procedures

Prepare materials and handle instruments with accuracy and speed during a wide range of clinical treatments

Assist with taking processing and mounting dental x-rays and participate in quality assurance

Provide clear oral hygiene advice to patients and parents as directed by the dental officer

Maintain the smooth running of the surgery including stock control and equipment care

Use your judgement to anticipate needs and respond promptly to changes in treatment or medical emergencies

Liaise with school staff to plan and deliver dental screening programmes accurately record findings and input data

Provide administrative and nursing support for epidemiology surveys and other projects

Manage patient records and communication with care and confidentiality especially for patients with complex needs or language barriers

Handle appointments and telephone calls interpreting the needs of patients and clinicians efficiently

Manage the administration for general anaesthetic lists at Addenbrookes Hospital including booking and paperwork and assist the dentist on the day

Offer emotional support to anxious patients demonstrating patience and understanding

Perform daily financial tasks such as cashing up and handling petty cash

Use computer systems for patient data treatment planning and other essential services
