Main duties of the job

As a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner, your primary duties will be to:

  • Conduct sensitive, patient-centred forensic medical examinations for victims and survivors of sexual assault.

  • Meticulously collect, document, and preserve forensic evidence in accordance with legal standards.

  • Provide immediate medical care, including emergency contraception and infection prophylaxis.

  • Offer trauma-informed emotional support and crisis intervention throughout the process.

  • Act as a professional witness, preparing statements and providing evidence for court proceedings.

  • Ensure robust safeguarding procedures are followed for both adults and children.

This role requires participation in a 24/7 on-call rota to provide this critical service.
