Main duties of the job
As a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner, your primary duties will be to:
Conduct sensitive, patient-centred forensic medical examinations for victims and survivors of sexual assault.
Meticulously collect, document, and preserve forensic evidence in accordance with legal standards.
Provide immediate medical care, including emergency contraception and infection prophylaxis.
Offer trauma-informed emotional support and crisis intervention throughout the process.
Act as a professional witness, preparing statements and providing evidence for court proceedings.
Ensure robust safeguarding procedures are followed for both adults and children.
This role requires participation in a 24/7 on-call rota to provide this critical service.
