Living Well Consortium (LWC) is recruiting for a Senior Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner to support the delivery of our Talking Therapies service.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support a team of triage, psychological wellbeing, and clinical practitioners (including Trainees), providing clinical guidance, supervision, and case management to enhance their practice and professional development. Furthermore, they will also line manage a small team of practitioners.

The Senior PWP will contribute to the efficiency and quality of LWC services, supporting with the allocation process, audits, and monitoring of the service. They will work alongside Clinical Leads and other Senior PWPs within LWC to ensure the continuous development of processes and performance.

Living Well Consortium is a network of third sector mental health organisations working collectively to support the mental health and wellbeing of people across Birmingham and Solihull. The organisation has secured contracts to deliver psychological support to people across this area through the NHS Talking Therapies (NHS TT) programme.

Job responsibilities

  • Assist with the development, support and training of innovative practice withing NHS Talking Therapies.
  • Provide line management to a small team of clinical staff.
  • Deliver case management and clinical supervision to Trainees and PWPs.
  • Carry out clinical quality audits ensuring a high quality in LWC TT services, both centrally and within LWC Providers. V3 October 2025
  • Ensure KPIs are met and monitor the performance of the service.
  • Ensure clients are allocated appropriately based on assessment evidence and that they receive the most appropriate treatment, therapist, and Provider for them.
  • Assess and support people with a common mental health problem in the self-management of their recovery
  • Undertake patient-centred interviews to identify areas where the person wishes to see change and or recovery and make an accurate assessment of risk to self and others.
  • Maintain a small caseload of clients.
  • Offer shadowing opportunities and peer support to PWPs and Trainees employed by LWC.
  • Support with the delivery of Silvercloud services, including uploading suitable clients to the online mental health platform.
  • Oversee the wellbeing call service, occasionally supporting with wellbeing calls when required.
  • Support with clinical queries across LWC, including from referrals teams and qualified practitioners.
  • Make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to the services referral protocols, and refer unsuitable clients on to the relevant service or back to the referral agent as necessary or step-up the persons treatment to high intensity.
  • Work closely with other members of the team ensuring appropriate step-up and step-down arrangements are in place to maintain a stepped care approach.
  • Input client information into agreed databases, ensuring notes are succinct, clear, and relevant.
  • Maintain clinical confidentiality at all times and ensure this is protected within service.
  • Provide a range of information and support for evidence based NICE guidelines support in Talking Therapies.
  • Ensure clear objectives are identified, discussed and reviewed with senior therapists on a regular basis as part of continuing professional development.
  • Attend clinical/managerial supervision on a regular basis as agreed with Line Manager.
  • Participate in individual performance reviews and respond to agreed objectives.
  • Contribute to the development of best practice within the service.
  • Ensure the maintenance of standards of practice according to the employer and any regulating body and keep up to date on new recommendations/guidelines set by the department of health (e.g NHS plan, National Service Framework, National Institute for Clinical Excellence).
