Job summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for working through their own rota and will undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations, queries, paperwork, signing repeat prescriptions and visiting people at home. They will be responsible for following up their own investigations and will benefit from regular supervision and reflection sessions with GP colleagues. The successful candidate will benefit from working alongside an established multi-disciplinary team including clinical pharmacists, paediatric nurse specialists, first contact physiotherapist and personalised care roles.

Main duties of the job

The GP will undertake a variety of duties governed by the GMS contract and objectives of Enhanced Services including:Share of Routine and Urgent appointments both face to face and telephonePrescribe as per local & national guidelinesShare of home visitsTime-manage completion of administration: letters, results, tasks, referrals, telephone calls, emailsTake responsibility for appropriate referrals (following local guidance and good medical practice) and administration pertaining to themParticipate in Extended Hours as agreed. Work with other health and social care providers to ensure a safe and integrated service. Provide comprehensive assessment, advice, and treatment for the registered practice population.Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of consultations using SystmOne clinical system.To provide clinical support to other members of staff, both clinical and administrative, in achieving the highest possible standards of care and QOF and Enhanced Services targetsThe content of this post will be reviewed in consultation with the post-holder when necessary and in line with the service developments.
