Job Title: Salaried General Practitioner

Location: Bevan Medical Group, Shotton Colliery, County Durham

Salary: Dependent upon experience

Work Pattern: 6-8 Sessions per week

Main duties of the job

To deliver highly effective medical care to our practice population, in accordance with the GP contract and local and national guidance.

To process administration in a timely manner and work collaboratively within the practice team and wider MDT to ensure excellent, joined up patient care.

To provide support to the GP Partner and wider clinical team.

About us

Bevan Mediacl Group are a GP training practice.

Our current team comprises of GP's, ANP's, Practice Nurse, Pharmacists and HCA's,supported by friendly and experienced administrative and management teams. We hold frequent practice, clinical, peer support sessions and encourage regular CPD sessions.

We have a patient list size of over 8,600 patients working from modern, purpose-built premises, based in County Durham. We are active members of Durham Coast Primary Care Network.

The applicant should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to provide high quality, patient-centred care. You will work alongside the team delivering and developing care relevant to the needs of our patient population in conjunction with organisational, local and national priorities.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The following are the core responsibilities of the salaried GP. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population

The provision of services commensurate with the GMS contract

Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance

Effective management of long-term conditions

Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks

On a rotational basis, undertake telephone triage and duty doctor roles

Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance

Working collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload

Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process

Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice

Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) or the QOF

Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required

Contribute effective to the development and maintenance of the practice including; clinical governance, training

Commit to self-learning and instill an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team

Support the partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure

Review and adhere to practice protocols and policies at all times

Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, promoting a culture of continuous improvement at all times

In addition to the primary responsibilities, the salaried GP may be requested to:

Participate in practice audits as requested by the audit lead

Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care

Participate in the review of significant and near-miss events applying a structured approach i.e. root cause analysis (RCA)

Qualifications

Essential

  • Qualified GP
  • MRCGP
  • Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent JCPTGP
  • General Practitioner (Certificate of Completion of Training CCT)

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in a primary care environment
  • Experience of continued professional development
  • Experience of QOF and clinical audit
  • Minimum of two years as a salaried GP
  • General understanding of the GMS contract

Desirable

  • Experience of medicines management
  • Experience of ICB initiatives
