Job summary
Aphasia Support is looking to recruit an experienced Speech & Language Therapist to lead on the charitys exciting new Speaking with Digital iPad Therapy Support Programme for people with aphasia in Scarborough. Funding has been secured via the UK Shared Prosperity Fund to develop a new weekly meeting total communication support group for people with aphasia in Scarborough. The hope is that this project will lead to the creation of a longer term support group for people with aphasia in Scarborough.
This is an exciting new project for Aphasia Support. The group in Scarborough will run alongside new groups in York and Northallerton. We anticipate most support will be provided through the new support group but home based or online support will be available for those people who are unable to access the support group location. We expect the venue for the new group will be finalised by the end of October. Ideally, we would want the Speech & Language Therapist to start on November 11th with the support group starting to meet in early December. This position is offered until 31st March 2026.
Main duties of the job
The person will lead the new Scarborough Aphasia Support group which we anticipate will meet from early December. The person will provide initial appointments for all people with aphasia referred onto the project and will then lead two cohorts. The first cohort from December to mid January and the second from February to late March. This is a brand new role. The SLT will be expected to complete outcome measures for all participants and ensure all project paper work is completed on time.
