Job summary

We are looking for a Registered Nursing Associate to work independently under the leadership of registered nurses, working to the NMC code of conduct and Standards of Proficiency for Nursing Associates to support with assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of clinical care for students.Please note that we do not offer visa sponsorship. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be able to provide valid Right to Work documentation.

Main duties of the job

To work as part of the clinical and wider multidisciplinary team teaching, supporting and mentoring other staff to ensure the clinical care delivered to students is of the highest quality.

To work directly with students at Henshaw's delivering clinical care independently in line with care plans, within the parameters of practice of the nursing associate role, accessing advice when needed.

To liaise and communicate with staff, managers, and service users at all levels ensuring colleagues and staff are kept informed in a timely and appropriate manner of any changes to student needs , care plans or risk assessments

Deliver theoretical clinical training to care staff 1-1 and in small groups.

Salary: £14.52 per hour/£29,446.56 per annum

Hours per Week: 39

Weeks per Year: 52

Holiday Weeks: 5 weeks plus 10 days bank holiday

Job Summary:

Main Duties:

  • Monitor and report on the health status of individuals in care, ensuring concerns are escalated to the appropriate team.

  • Supervise and support Nursing Assistants, Trainee Nursing Associates, and Nursing Students, ensuring quality care and staff competency.

  • Carry out clinical observations and tasks, including vital signs, injections, blood glucose monitoring and gastrostomy care, identifying and reporting any deterioration appropriately.

  • Deliver clinical training and competency assessments for care staff in areas such as infection prevention, sepsis, and clinical interventions.

  • Participate in quality assurance cycles, including audits and health screenings, working closely with care/education management.

  • Support the RN in development of action plans for improving care practices.

  • Support with the management of medication and ensure compliance with policies, promoting best practice.

  • Promote health and wellbeing, referring to external health professionals when required.

  • Work effectively as part of the multidisciplinary team including EHCPs, care reviews and pre-entry assessments.

  • Ensure that Henshaws safeguarding policies and procedures are always adhered to.

  • Undertake in-practice competency observations and assessments covering a range of different clinical interventions including but not limited to Gastrostomy, Oxygen therapy, Cough Assist, Non-invasive Ventilation and Oral suction to ensure staff remain confident and competent when undertaking delegated nursing activities

  • Accurately document care activities, including medication, fluid charts, bowel charts and model best practice to care and education staff.

  • Maintain competencies through regular training and clinical supervision, undertaking specialist training if required to meet the needs of the service users.

  • Contribute to staff meetings and engage in reflective practice for self-development

  • Nursing Associate foundation degree qualification
  • Recent experience of working in the health or care sector undertaking a range of delegated clinical skills
  • GCSE Grade A-C in Maths & English or skills level 2 Maths & English or equivalent
