Job summary
We are looking for aRegistered Nursing Associateto work independently under the leadership of registered nurses, working to the NMC code of conduct and Standards of Proficiency for Nursing Associates to support with assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of clinical care for students.
Main duties of the job
To work as part of the clinical and wider multidisciplinary team teaching, supporting and mentoring other staff to ensure the clinical care delivered to students is of the highest quality.
To work directly with students at Henshaw's delivering clinical care independently in line with care plans, within the parameters of practice of the nursing associate role, accessing advice when needed.
To liaise and communicate with staff, managers, and service users at all levels ensuring colleagues and staff are kept informed in a timely and appropriate manner of any changes to student needs , care plans or risk assessments
Deliver theoretical clinical training to care staff 1-1 and in small groups.
Salary: £14.32 per hour/£29040.96 per annum
Hours per week: 39
Weeks per Year: 52
Holiday weeks: 5 weeks plus 10 days bank holiday

Deliver high quality compassionate care, carrying out specific clinical and care tasks and responsibilities to a high standard under the direction of the registered nurse whilst promoting health and independence.
Work as part of a designated clinical team supporting the care staff and students. work alongside, mentor and support them to ensure that the care and student support delivered is of the highest quality.
Work without direct supervision, at times delivering clinical care independently in line with care plans, within the parameters of practice of the nursing associate role, accessing advice when needed.
Understand all elements of the nursing process and be able to assist the registered nurse in the on-going assessment, planning, management, and evaluation of care.
Monitor the condition and health needs of people within their care on a continual basis in partnership with the members of the MDT, families, and carers
To oversee the care delivered by Nursing Assistants, Trainee Nursing Associates and Nursing Students to the students allocated to them and ensure staff are competent to perform any delegated tasks.
Raise and report any deterioration in health of the students to the registered nursing team or community health care teams.
Recognise and report any situations, behaviours or errors that could result in poor care outcomes
Identify risks to safety or experience and take appropriate action, putting the best interests, needs and preferences of people first.
Perform and record clinical observations including blood pressure, temperature, respirations, and pulse
Undertake clinical tasks such as Gastrostomy button changes, catheter care, injections, and blood glucose monitoring
Demonstrate the ability to recognise changing priorities seeking advice and guidance from the registered nurse when needed
Deliver theoretical clinical training to care staff.
Undertake in-practice competency observations and assessments covering a range of different clinical interventions including but not limited to Gastrostomy, Oxygen therapy, Cough Assist, Non-invasive Ventilation and Oral suction to ensure staff remain confident and competent when undertaking delegated nursing activities
Carry out delegated nursing interventions in line with clinical care plans, such as subcutaneous injection, Bowel care and INR sampling
Upskill care staff by undertaking workshops in key priority areas such as Infection prevention and control, RESTORE2 and Sepsis
Ensuring IPC is prioritised, and policies and procedures are adhered to.
Play a vital role in carrying out the quality assurance cycle. Including carrying out audits in key areas such as IPC and complex clinical care.
Support the registered nurse in development of action plans to help improve practice where improvements are needed.
Carry out health screening such as Nutritional Screening, Skin Integrity, and Clinical observations.
Make referrals to external health teams to promote health and wellbeing.
Attend and contribute to EHCPs and health and social care reviews.
Support with new student assessments.
Assist in the identification of care needs, composing and implementing appropriate care plans and risk assessments under the supervision of the registered nursing team..
Ensure that Henshaws safeguarding policies and procedures are always adhered to.
Manage and administer students medication in accordance with policy and procedure.
Liaise with the Registered Nursing team and Care Leads to ensure that all complex care needs are met effectively.
To facilitate safe Moving and Handling of students with complex health needs.
Accurately and appropriately record and report students needs and progress including keeping rigorous Medication Administration Records and food and fluid intake charts.
Assist all students in any way which promotes and enables their development and independence.
Maintain competency by having regular training and review from the College Registered Nurses including clinical supervision.
Engage in reflective practice to promote development of self
