Job summary

To undertake telephone, virtual or face-to-face client triages and assessments for the counselling service.

To support the Clinical Service Manager with an oversight of the functions and operations of the service so we can offer a robust and professional counselling service.

To support the volunteer counsellors and Clinical Service Manager in relation to the functions of providing the Catalyst Counselling contract and Catalyst policies and procedures that underpin our governance and in line with BACP

To support Catalyst Counselling Administrator during peak times and absences.

Main duties of the job

  • Contacting clients for triage to ascertain suitability for counselling
  • Leaving messages and following up if a client doesnt answer the call
  • Signposting to another service if beneficial for the client
  • If a client is borderline in terms of suitability for counselling, suggesting alternative support options and calling to reassess again after an agreed period of time
  • Booking client assessments in the diary
  • Updating database following triage call
  • Advising administrator following booking of an assessment
  • Carrying out assessments as required
  • Having oversight of all assessments and oversee client suitability for counselling

Established for over 30 years, We have provided services alongside a variety of statutory and voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) colleagues in Surrey and its boarders. We are currently looking for a part time Qualified Counselling Co-ordinator to work within the Counselling team.

Salary: £28,000 - £30, 000 dependent on experience / Pro Rata

Hours: 21 25 hours per week

You will be supporting the Clinical Service Manager with an oversight of the functions and operations helping to ensure they offer a robust and professional counselling service.

Working in a small team you will manage the referrals and undertake telephone, virtual and some face to face client triages and assessments to ascertain suitability for counselling. Once complete you will manage the necessary paperwork and processes to assign to the appropriate counsellor or signpost to other services that could be of benefit.

It is key that you work closely with and support the volunteer counsellors, helping them to deliver the service and also dealing with enquiries in regards to placements, interviewing, on-boarding and training alongside the Service Manager.

This is a very varied role that gives you great expose and involvement in the counselling team.

Our ideal applicant will have/be;

  • Qualified Counsellor (minimum level 4 diploma in counselling)
  • Counselling experience working with clients presenting with mental health or / and drug / alcohol addictions / concerns
  • Experience of conducting triage and assessments for counselling
  • Knowledge of different counselling skills and evidence-based approaches to supporting people with drug, alcohol issues, mental health and associated complexity
  • Proactive, motivated, energetic, kindness and integrity are some of the key attributes
  • Ability to work calmly in a challenging environment
