Being an Employment Specialist is an exciting
and dynamic role, where no day is the same. You will be providing client
support such as CV production, interview techniques and searching for job
opportunities. You will also be educating and engaging employers, sourcing job
opportunities for your clients, and raising expectations around the ability of
clients to access paid employment. As part of the Solent Mind IPS Hampshire
team, you will be working with the Southern Health Mid and North Early
Intervention Psychosis team to help their clients find and retain suitable
employment.
This position, with on-the-job training, is a
fantastic opportunity to play a vital role in helping people with mental health
needs across the north of Hampshire find meaningful and fulfilling employment.

Main duties of the job
You will need to have excellent communication
skills and a good understanding of the key difficulties and challenges faced by
people with mental health issues in gaining or retaining employment. We welcome
applications from all experience and background levels. What you will need is
the ability to motivate and build relationships with service users, strong
organisational skills, and the confidence to communicate and engage with a
range of employers, and a fundamental belief that anyone with a mental health condition
can work.

Experience
Essential
- Experience of working with people with mental health needs, in a paid or voluntary capacity OR working in Supported Employment, Recruitment, Human Resources or role specialising in Relationship Management
- Experience of helping people identify their own goals and the ability to support people in pursuing these.
Desirable
- Experience of working in partnership/multi agency working.
- An understanding of key concepts of recovery.
- An understanding of the key difficulties and challenges faced by people with severe mental illness in returning to/retaining mainstream employment
Qualifications

- Educated to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent or extensive experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

- Knowledge of disability and special needs issues, policies and legislation (e.g., the Equality Act 2010) in relation to employment
- Strong needs assessment and action planning skills
- Confidence speaking to employers, teams of health professionals and other community groups
- Able to use IT and tools such as MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- Able to use patient records systems and other customer relations management systems
- Good problem-solving skills
- Good organisational and prioritisation skills
- Ability to travel within South West Hampshire (West)
