Job summary
Cumbria Health are looking for a Project Manager to support to the launch of the NHS Work Well Service in North Cumbria, as part of the Health and Growth Accelerator Programme.
The post holder will be responsible for providing dedicated project management support to the launch of the NHS Work Well Service in North Cumbria, as part of the Health and Growth Accelerator Programme. This national initiative is designed to work with individuals who are at risk of leaving employment due to health conditions, with the aim of enabling them to remain in or return to work through targeted support and intervention.
North East and North Cumbria (NENC) Integrated Care Board (ICB) is one of three ICBs selected to develop new pathways to support this cohort. The service in North Cumbria scheduled to launch on 1 October 2025.
*6 month fixed-term contract*
The post holder will be required to work the following:
- 2 days per week at ICB
- 2 days per week at Cumbria Health
- 1 day remote working (optional).

Main duties of the job
This fixed-term role (6 months) will focus on ensuring all elements required for a successful launch are in place, including service design finalisation, stakeholder engagement, governance arrangements, risk and issue management, and operational readiness. The postholder will also work on the wider Health and Growth Accelerator Programme to ensure alignment between the NENC ICB regional team and the locally developed model, supporting a coherent and integrated approach.
The postholder will work closely with programme partners, clinical and operational teams, employers, and service user representatives to coordinate activities and ensure the service is delivered to plan, within budget, and to agreed quality standards. They will be expected to operate within the framework of organisational policies and national guidance, using professional judgement to deliver complex, time-critical outputs with minimal supervision.
