Do you have?

Minimum Level 2 in Health and Social Care/Care Certificate

Relevant healthcare assistant experience

Good verbal and written communication skills

The ability to work independently in patients own homes

The ability to plan and manage your own workload and activities

A good awareness of your own limitations, and able to recognise the need for onward referral when needed

Good IT skills

A driving license and access to a car, prepared to travel throughout our defined catchment area (Swindon, Marlborough, Pewsey, Wootton Bas-sett, Lechlade, Fairford and Shrivenham).

It would also be great if you have:

Level 3 in Health and Social Care

End of life care experience

Essential

• Commitment to and ability to demonstrate Prospect Hospice values and behaviours at all times.
• Have a track record of working inclusively and a genuine appreciation of the value of diversity.
• Able to maintain the highest professional standards at all times, and act as a true ambassador for the Hospice and encourage others to do the same.
• To be authentic, open honest and transparent.
• Flexible shift patterns to include night shifts and weekends.

Qualifications

Essential

• NVQ Level 2 in Care.
• Care Certificate.
• Post holders must hold a driving license and have access to a car and be prepared to travel throughout the defined catchment area.

Desirable

• NVQ Level 3 in Care.

Skills

Essential

• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Commitment to developing skills and knowledge of the care of the dying person and family.
• Shows empathy and presents a calm, courteous and compassionate manner.

Desirable

• Good IT skills.

Experience

Essential

• Minimum of 2 years recent relevant Health Care Assistant or Nursing Auxiliary experience.
• Understanding of the role of the Health Care Assistant.
• Able to work independently in the patients own home.
• Good awareness of own limitations, and able to recognize the need to ask for assistance and for onward referral.
• Able to demonstrate an understanding of the importance of boundaries in relationships with patients and their families.
• Ability to work unsupervised but also a team player.
• Able to demonstrate an understanding of the importance of developing ways to sustain own coping, including use of support and supervision.

Desirable

• Palliative care experience.
