Main duties of the job
Plan and undertake diagnostic audiological procedures on adults and children independently, making referrals to ENT and MRI when necessary. With indirect supervision, perform complex techniques on adults and older children. Manage rehabilitative patient caseloads using care plans, ensuring effective hearing aid systems, and advising patients and parents effectively.
Specialize in clinical practice with complex adults or supervise routine adult care, including ward and care home visits. Handle sensitive hearing loss issues daily with empathy. Supervise and support junior audiology staff, providing specialist information and conducting appraisals for Band 4&5 audiologists.
Implement training programs for audiologists and develop multimedia sessions for other healthcare professionals. Liaise with and advise other health professionals verbally and in writing. Support senior audiology staff with department management, audit activities, and UKAS accreditation processes.
Stay current with audiological developments, researching and sharing new advancements with colleagues. Occasionally act as the senior staff member in the absence of more senior audiologists, providing autonomous care at locality clinics and patients' homes. Assist the Department Manager with staff and consumable cost control, justifying expenditures, and investigating budget variances.
Enhance communication systems, maintain a positive working environment, and ensure confidentiality at all times.
