Job summary

As a Senior Programme Officer, you will support the promotion of the NHS as an employer of excellence. You will do this through supporting the delivery of workforce supply related programmes within the wider Development and Employment Team.

You will report to the Programme Lead and will lead and support deliverables through employer engagement, coordination and often delivery of meetings, events and webinars and drafting of reports, key documentation and web-based materials. You will be responsible for supporting and managing specific activities in the programme as required.

Main duties of the job

This role will support a varied and busy work programme and work in areas of workforce supply of the NHS workforce. The team develop tools and resources to support key priorities of the programme, sharing good practice across the NHS, and provide support and advice to employers when needed.

We are looking for someone who has an understanding of workforce supply routes into the NHS workforce, who can work in a team, proactively drive work independently, has attention for detail and is willing to learn complex subject matters quickly. If you are new to the NHS or this topic area, we will support you to develop the expertise and skills needed to excel in this role. This is an excellent opportunity to showcase your transferable skills and develop in a new, exciting and fast-paced area.

- Programme management and support

  • contributing to overall project plans and providing support to the team to ensure effective delivery of programmes.
  • project managing allocated work streams in a way that supports and enables delivery.
  • coordinating meetings, including scheduling, preparing agendas, facilitation and minute taking. Ensuring all meetings run smoothly and actions are followed up accordingly, completing delegated projects as required.
  • completing any actions following meetings (including research, writing papers, contacting senior stakeholders).
  • ensuring effective and timely communications about latest developments in the current work areas.
  • providing signposting to relevant information and advice on all programme issues in response to requests from the NHS, ensuring excellent customer service.
- Stakeholder management

  • working with NHS trusts and external organisations to source and write up case studies and engage with expert contributors.
  • building effective relationships with both NHS organisations and external stakeholders and commissioners.
  • leading relevant network activity, online forums, and employer conversations.
  • working in partnership with other teams across NHS Employers as workload demands and priorities dictate.
- Writing and content creation

  • researching potential topic areas, drafting key documentation, guidance, briefings and presentations.
  • maintaining, preparing and developing web-based materials.
  • providing accurate information on good practice in the programmes supported and provide that information in a suitable format for our audience.
