West View Millennium Surgery has an exciting opportunity for a Practice Nurse to join our team. We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring, and motivated professional with excellent clinical, organisational, and communication skills, who has the ability to work autonomously. This job is for 3 days per week.
The successful candidate will provide high-quality nursing care, ideally the candidate will have experience in long term condition management including Diabetes, asthma and COPD. However the practice is willing to train the ideal candidate to provide these in the future and salary will be dependant. Responsibilities will include cervical cytology, immunisations, wound care and health promotion.
There are two job descriptions attached - one is based on treatment room work and the other is based on long-term condition management work. Please indicate in your application which role you are applying for.
Main duties of the job
Our Practice Nurse role would be expected to undertake a range of nursing assessments and provide appropriate care or treatment in conjunction with our clinical team and Practice Policies.
Ideally you would be able to support and deliver a high level of quality care and service based on the needs of the patient population of which would include treatment, management plans, screening, preventative care and patient education. In addition, you would also be expected to support the Practice in meeting its contractual obligations and delivery of enhanced service specifications.

West View Millennium Surgery is a medium sized practice with 3 partners, 2 salaried GP's, 2 ANP's, 3 practice nurses and a nurse associate, caring for 7500 patients.
We are a large training practice who also have pharmacists, a first contact practitioner along with a large administrative team to support the team and patients. We provide education and supervision for GP trainees and medical students.

Clinical Practice
- Assess, plan, develop, implement and evaluate programmes to promote health and well-being, and prevent adverse effects on health and well-being. This will include dietary, smoking cessation, alcohol, exercise and all general lifestyle advice.
- Implement and evaluate individual treatment plans for patients with a known long-term condition within the boundaries of own clinical competence
- Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately to assist the patient in complex, urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care.
- Support patients to adopt health promotion strategies that encourage patients to live healthily and apply principles of self care.
- Provide information and advice on prescribed or over the counter medication on medication regimens, side effects and interactions. Where appropriate to their knowledge and skills review the medication regimen of a patient.
- Assess and care for patients with uncomplicated wounds.
- Assist with minor surgery, coil insertion, coil removal.
- Suture and clip removal
- Support and advise women requesting information relating to sexual health and contraception. Implement interval health checks for patients using hormonal contraception following initial implementation by senior clinician.
- Support and manage health needs of women presenting for cervical cytology consultations
- Give general advice on womens health where appropriate, promote breast self-awareness, take swabs for microscopy where indicated, mammography screening programmes, peri and post menopausal issues and basic incontinence management. Where appropriate refer to members of the clinical team.
- Recognise, assess and refer to clinical team members patients presenting with mental health needs.
- Implement and participate in vaccination and immunisation programmes for both adults and children
