Job summary
We are looking for 2 x part-time Healthcare Assistants to join our nighttime Hospice Care @ Home service in Somerset. As a Healthcare Assistant in this service, you will provide compassionate, person-centred care to people at the end of life in the comfort of their own homes.
Main duties of the job
Working as part of a small, supportive team aligned with the local Integrated Neighbourhood Team, you will help ensure patients and their families receive the right care at the right time.
This is a lone working role during the night, giving you autonomy while still being closely connected to your wider team. You will follow individual care plans to provide personal care, comfort, symptom support and emotional reassurance. You will monitor and report changes, maintain dignity, and help create a calm, safe environment for patients and those important to them.
Because our service manages its own referrals, you will benefit from smoother communication, better continuity of care and a strong sense of ownership within the team. If you are caring, reliable, confident working independently at night and passionate about supporting people at the end of life, we would love you to join us.
About us
Marie Curie is the UKs leading end-of-life charity. We are the largest non-NHS provider of end-of-life care in the UK, the only provider across all 4 nations, delivering community nursing and hospice care across the country, while providing information and support on all aspects of dying, death, and bereavement. Our leading research pushes the boundaries of what we know about good end-of-life, and our campaigns fight for a world where everyone gets to have the best possible quality of life while living with an illness, they are likely to die from.
The care and support we provide is highly valued by the people we care for and their loved ones, but at present we are only reaching around 10% of dying people at the end of life. Right now, one in four people in the UK with a terminal illness, do not get the care or support they deserve at the end of their lives.
