Job summary

We are currently recruiting Healthcare Assistants to join our Hospice Care at Home Overnight Service in the East Riding of Yorkshire covering Beverley, Bridlington, Hornsea, Goole, Withernsea and surrounding areas.

Main duties of the job

As a Healthcare Assistant in the Marie Curie Hospice Care at Home Overnight Service across the East Riding of Yorkshire including Beverley, Bridlington, Hornsea, Goole, Withernsea and surrounding areas you'll provide one to one specialist palliative care to people with life limiting illnesses in their own homes. The role centres on delivering compassionate personal support, monitoring symptoms, assisting with medications, and maintaining accurate records, while offering essential emotional support to both patients and their families during an especially difficult time.

Your experience in end of life care enables you to work independently and use your initiative, following each patients established care plan. The nature of the service ensures meaningful contact with patients and families, helping them feel supported, safe and cared for throughout the night.

Hours: Part Time 36 hours, various 9 hour night shifts (10 pm - 7 am) available.

Salary: AFC BAND 2 £24,465, per annum + enhancements (pro rata)

As a Healthcare Assistant with the Marie Curie Hospice Care at Home Overnight Service in the East Riding of Yorkshire covering Beverley, Bridlington, Hornsea, Goole, Withernsea and surrounding areas, you'll be supporting patients and families in their time of greatest need. We provide free specialist palliative care and support to patients with life limiting illness whilst offering vital emotional support for their families.

With experience of End of Life care, you're ready and able to make a real difference. Ours is a one-to-one approach to care, so you're sure to enjoy plenty of meaningful contact with patients and their families - usually in their own homes. Working without close supervision, you'll have the opportunity to use your own initiative in line with the patient's established care plan. You'll be required to carry out a range of care duties including helping patients meet their hygiene needs, monitoring symptoms, assisting with medications and keeping detailed records and emotional support to the patient and their families.

What were looking for:

  • Relevant community experience
  • S/NVQ Level 2/3 qualification or an equivalent certificate/diploma is required
  • Emotional strength and the ability to work on your own are crucial, though we will of course provide excellent on-going training and support
  • Recent experience of providing care and caring for people with life limiting illness or palliative care needs
  • Be a UK licensed driver with access to a car and business insurance is essential
