We are recruiting for a Healthcare Assistant to join the In-patients Unit at our Outstanding CQC rated hospice in Bradford.

Main duties of the job

The Healthcare Assistant role with the Marie Curie team at Bradford Hospice Inpatients Unit involves providing specialist palliative care and emotional support to patients with life lmiting illnesses and their families. Drawing on your experience in end of life care, you'll offer one to one support but following each patients care plan. Key duties include assisting with personal hygiene, monitoring symptoms, supporting with medications, maintaining accurate records, and offering compassionate emotional support to both patients and their families.

Hours/Contract: Full Time or Part Time (Days 7.30am 8pm, Nights 7.30pm 8am)

As a Healthcare Assistant with Marie Curie team at Bradford Hospice In-patients Unit, you'll be supporting patients and families in their time of greatest need. We provide free specialist palliative care and support to patients with life limiting illness whilst offering vital emotional support for their families.

With experience of End of Lifecare, you're ready and able to make a real difference. Ours is a one-to-one approach to care, so you're sure to enjoy plenty of meaningful contact with patients and their families - usually in their own homes. Working without close supervision, you'll have the opportunity to use your own initiative in line with the patient's established care plan. You'll be required to carry out a range of care duties including helping patients meet their hygiene needs, monitoring symptoms, assisting with medications and keeping detailed records and emotional support to the patient and their families.

What were looking for:

  • S/NVQ Level 2/3 qualification or an equivalent certificate/diploma is required

  • Emotional strength and the ability to work on your own are crucial, though we will of course provide excellent on-going training and support

  • Recent experience of providing care and caring for people with life limiting illness or palliative care needs in a health/social care setting
