Main duties of the job

Band 2 Healthcare Assistants provide essential personal care and support to patients nearing the end of life, assisting with hygiene, nutrition, comfort, and mobility while maintaining dignity and respect. They work under the guidance of registered nurses, monitoring patient wellbeing, reporting concerns, and helping to create a safe and supportive hospital environment.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Hours: 22:00pm 07:00am night shift

Contract: Full-time permanent (part-time may be considered)

Salary: Band 2 £24,465 per annum, in line with NHS Agenda for Change (AFC) + enhancements and Marie Curie employee benefits package

Locations: Community-based within Devon

As these are community-based roles, you will be responsible for planning your own work, responding to changes in patient conditions, prioritising care needs (including hygiene, nutrition and hydration, comfort, monitoring vitals, and more) as detailed in the personalised care plan and ensuring you escalate appropriately to senior staff within the multidisciplinary team in a timely manner.

Qualifications

  • National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 2 in Health and Social Care OR an equivalent
  • 6 Months care delivery experience (current) in a Health or Social Care Environment.
  • Hold a current and valid driving licence and have access to a vehicle which includes business insurance
  • Knowledge of palliative and end of life care.
  • Hold person centred conversations, Communicate sensitively with the person and those important to them in a nonjudgmental, empathetic, supportive, and professional manner.
  • Participate in the assessment, care planning, review and evaluation of holistic care management plans within the multidisciplinary team.
  • Undertake risk assessments to support safe delivery of care.
