Main duties of the job

With your experience in End of Life care, you are well-equipped to make a significant impact. Our approach is centred on one-to-one care, ensuring that you will have ample opportunities for meaningful interactions with patients and their families in their own homes. Working independently, you will be able to use your initiative in accordance with the patient's established care plan. Your responsibilities will include assisting patients with their hygiene needs, monitoring symptoms, administering medications, maintaining detailed records, and offering emotional support to both patients and their families.

We are recruiting for a Healthcare Assistant to join the Marie Curie Hospice Care at Home Overnight Service in Middlesbrough.

Salary: Marie Curie Clinical Pay Scale, aligned with AFC Band 2 £24,465 pro rata per annum + enhancements

Hours/Contract: Full Time 37.5 hours per week (Nights 10pm 7am)

Contract Type: Permanent

Based: Middlesbrough Community

As a Healthcare Assistant with the Hospice Care at Home Overnight Service in Middlesbrough, you will be providing essential support to patients and their families during their most challenging times. Our team offers free specialist palliative care and support to individuals with life-limiting illnesses, while also providing crucial emotional support to their loved ones.

With your experience in End of Life care, you are well-equipped to make a significant impact. Our approach is centred on one-to-one care, ensuring that you will have ample opportunities for meaningful interactions with patients and their families in their own homes. Working independently, you will be able to use your initiative in accordance with the patient's established care plan. Your responsibilities will include assisting patients with their hygiene needs, monitoring symptoms, administering medications, maintaining detailed records, and offering emotional support to both patients and their families.

What were looking for:

  • S/NVQ Level 2/3 qualification or an equivalent certificate/diploma is required
  • Relevant palliative community experience
  • Emotional strength and the ability to work on your own are crucial, though we will of course provide excellent on-going training and support
  • Recent experience of providing care and caring for people with life limiting illness or palliative care needs
  • Be a UK licensed driver with access to a car and business insurance is essential with travel up to 25 mile radius from your own home
