Main duties of the job

As a Healthcare Assistant with Marie Curie team in West Glamorgan you'll be supporting patients and families in their time of greatest need. We provide free specialist palliative care and support to patients withlife limiting illnesswhilst offering vital emotional support for their families.

Hours/Contract:Permanent - 37.5 hours per week

Based:Community Based West Glamorgan Dementia Respite Service

What we are looking for:

  • Being a UK licensed driver with access to a car and business insuranceis essential
  • Relevant community experience
  • S/NVQ Level 2/3 qualification or an equivalent certificate/diploma is required
  • Emotional strength and the ability to work on your own are crucial, though we will of course provide excellent on-going training and support
  • Recent experience of providing care and caring for people with life limiting illness or palliative care needs

An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic Health Care Assistant to join our Dementia Respite service in West Glamorgan. You will deliver care and support to patients with a Palliative diagnosis in the last year of life whilst also offering vital emotional support for their families.

With experience of End-of-Life care, you're ready and able to make a real difference. Ours is a one-to-one approach to care, so you're sure to enjoy plenty of meaningful contact with patients and their families in their own homes. Working without close supervision, you'll have the opportunity to use your own initiative in line with the patient's established care plan. You'll be required to carry out a range of care duties including helping patients meet their hygiene needs, monitoring symptoms, assisting with medications and keeping detailed records and emotional support to the patient and their families.
