Based:West Glamorgan Dementia Respite Service

What we are looking for:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic Health Care Assistant to join our Dementia Respite service in West Glamorgan. You will deliver care and support to patients with a Palliative diagnosis in the last year of life whilst also offering vital emotional support for their families.

With experience of End-of-Life care, you're ready and able to make a real difference. Ours is a one-to-one approach to care, so you're sure to enjoy plenty of meaningful contact with patients and their families in their own homes. Working without close supervision, you'll have the opportunity to use your own initiative in line with the patient's established care plan. You'll be required to carry out a range of care duties including helping patients meet their hygiene needs, monitoring symptoms, assisting with medications and keeping detailed records and emotional support to the patient and their families.

The ability to drive with access to a vehicle insured for business use is essential for this role.

Qualifications

Essential

• National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 2 in Health and Social Care OR an equivalent alternative Level 2 Qualification i.e. NCFE level 2 Certificate in Healthcare Support Services, BTEC level 2 Health and Social Care. Functional skills at level 2 in numeracy and literacy or equivalent

Desirable

• National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 3 in Health and Social Care OR an acceptable, alternative Level 3 Qualification
• Basic Food Hygiene Certificate

Experience

Essential

• 6 Months care delivery experience (current) in a Health or Social Care Environment

Desirable

• Recent professional experience of providing care and caring for dying patients.
