Job responsibilities

Salary:Marie Curie Clinical Pay Scale Band 2 (aligned withAFC)£22,383pro rata per annum with a signing-on lump sum bonus of £1,000 (pro-rated in line with contracted hours), plus a retention bonus of 10% of your basicsalary until 30th September 2025 paid monthly after completing 8 weeks in post and induction training.

(A typical work pattern for night shifts you could earn over£30K per annum)

• Relevant community experience
• S/NVQ Level 2/3 qualification or an equivalent certificate/diploma is desirable
• Emotional strength and the ability to work on your own are crucial, though we will of course provide excellent on-going training and support
• UK driving licence, & access to a vehicle are essential

  • 41% x your basic salary per hour paid for Saturdays & weekday night duty (8pm to 6am)
  • 83% x your basic salary per hour paid for Sundays and Public Bank Holidays

You'll be required to carry out a range of care duties including helping patients meet their hygiene needs, monitoring symptoms, assisting with medications and keeping detailed records and emotional support to the patient and their families.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

• National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 2 in Health and Social Care OR an equivalent alternative Level 2 Qualification i.e. NCFE level 2 Certificate in Healthcare Support Services, BTEC level 2 Health and Social Care.
• Functional skills at level 2 in numeracy and literacy or equivalent

Desirable

• National Vocational Qualification (NVQ)
• Level 3 in Health and Social Care OR an acceptable, alternative Level 3 Qualification
• Basic Food Hygiene Certificate

Experience

Essential

• 6 Months experience (current) in a Health or Social Care Environment.
• Recent experience of providing care and caring for dying patients.

Desirable

• Experience of working in a specialist palliative care setting
• Experience of working Hospice / community setting
• Experience of quality improvement, clinical audit, practice development and how this is used to improve care

Know how to:

• Hold person centred conversations, Communicate sensitively with the person and those important to them in a nonjudgmental, empathetic, supportive, and professional manner.
• Provide high quality personal care and support to enhance wellbeing.

Other Requirements

Essential

• For community roles hold a current and valid driving licence and have access to a vehicle which includes business insurance
• In services where there is the use of a pool car, hold a current and valid manual driving licence
• Ability to travel to varying work locations during unsocial hours
• Access to email and the internet
• Flexible approach to working patterns
• Willingness to undertake work during the day and at night
• Maintain regulatory registration requirements or any national professional or occupational standards associated with the role.
