Main duties of the job

As a Healthcare Assistant you will deliver care and support to people with terminal illnesses whilst also offering vital emotional support for their families.

Job Title:Healthcare Assistant

Salary: Marie Curie Clinical Pay Scale, Aligned with AFC Band 2(£22,383 pro rata per annum + enhancements)

Hours/Contract: Full time 37.5 hours

Contract Type:Permanent Nights

Based:Manchester Community Based

What we are looking for:

  • Relevant community experience
  • S/NVQ Level 2/3 qualification or an equivalent certificate/diploma is desirable
  • Emotional strength and the ability to work on your own are crucial, though we will of course provide excellent on-going training and support
  • UK driving license, & access to a vehicle are essential

With experience of End of Life care, you're ready and able to make a real difference. Ours is a one-to-one approach to care, so you're sure to enjoy plenty of meaningful contact with patients and their families - usually in their own homes. Working without close supervision, you'll have the opportunity to use your own initiative in line with the patient's established care plan.

You'll be required to carry out a range of care duties including helping patients meet their hygiene needs, monitoring symptoms, assisting with medications and keeping detailed records and emotional support to the patient and their families.
