Title:Healthcare Assistant As and When (Bank)

Salary: Marie Curie Clinical Pay Scale, Aligned with AFC Band 2 (£11.45 per hours+ enhancements )

Hours/Contract:Permanent,Part time, As and When (nights)

Based: South East covering;East and West Kent (25 miles from Home base)

As a Healthcare Assistant you will deliver care and support to people with terminal illnesses whilst also offering vital emotional support for their families.

• Relevant community experience
• S/NVQ Level 2/3 qualification or an equivalent certificate/diploma is desirable
• Emotional strength and the ability to work on your own are crucial, though we will of course provide excellent on-going training and support
• UK driving licence & access to a vehicle are essential with business car insurance.

With experience of End of Life care, you're ready and able to make a real difference. Ours is a one-to-one approach to care, so you're sure to enjoy plenty of meaningful contact with patients and their families - usually in their own homes. Working without close supervision, you'll have the opportunity to use your own initiative in line with the patient's established care plan.

You'll be required to carry out a range of care duties including helping patients meet their hygiene needs, monitoring symptoms, assisting with medications and keeping detailed records and emotional support to the patient and their families.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

• National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 2 in Health and Social Care OR an equivalent alternative Level 2
• Qualification i.e. NCFE level 2 Certificate in Healthcare Support
• Services, BTEC level 2 Health and Social Care.
• Functional skills at level 2 in numeracy and literacy or equivalent

Desirable

• National Vocational Qualification (NVQ)
• Level 3 in Health and Social Care OR an acceptable, alternative Level 3
• Qualification
• Basic Food Hygiene Certificate

Experience

Essential

• 6 Months experience (current) in a Health or Social Care Environment.
• Recent experience of providing care and caring for dying patients.

Desirable

• Experience of working in a specialist palliative care setting
• Experience of working Hospice / community setting
• Experience of quality improvement, clinical audit,practice development and how this is used to improve care
