We are seeking passionate, motivated and experienced Staff Nurses to join our
Inpatient Unit on a permanent basis, providing all forms of care.

Main duties of the job
To ensure the highest standards of holistic, skilled, patient-centred, palliative care for all in-patients, and to provide support to their families and carers in a safe, friendly and efficient environment.
The postholders will communicate with patients, families and carers in a sensitive and empathetic way maintaining effective communication with multi-disciplinary team members.

Staff Nurse:
To provide the highest standards of care to patients.
To lead on and coordinate assessment, planning and evaluation of individualised patient
centred care.
Ensuring you always act in the patients best interests, taking personal responsibility for actions
and decisions taken.
Provide a holistic approach to all care provisions provided that is both sensitive and responsive
to the patients ever changing needs.
To assist in providing pain and symptom control to patients who require pain relief.
To provide out of hours specialist advice by telephone to patients, carers and allied
professionals as required, alerting them to any significant matters.

Senior Staff Nurse:
Responsible for providing inspirational and motivational clinical leadership to a team of nurses
to deliver a high standard of specialist palliative care nursing in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team on the Inpatient Unit. This includes assessment of patient and family needs in
conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team.
Line management and Supervision of IPU Nursing and HCA staff in line with Mountbatten
Policies and Procedures as agreed with the Sister and Deputy Sister.
Required to provide clinical leadership for a team of nurses and have detailed knowledge of
every patient on the ward to ensure that specialist palliative care is delivered in line with
individual needs and can provide expert clinical advice both internally and externally.
Will create, lead, and maintain a nursing culture which is open to change, new ideas, concepts,
and innovation, whilst influencing Mountbatten's strategy and direction.
