We are
looking for nurses who hold a high amount of empathy and compassion, and who can make a real difference not only to our patients but to their family and
support network.
These are full time roles, and members of our team are required to work a variety of shift
patterns including nights, lates, earlies, Bank Holidays and weekends on a
planned rota basis.
Main duties of the job
As a member of our
team you will have excellent opportunities for training and development to
enable you to expand your skills within Palliative and End of Life Care.
You will be
responsible for providing symptom management and complex end of life care to
patients living with life limiting conditions. You will be able to make a real
difference to peoples lives every single day, supporting our patients and their
families.
You will also be
responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of
evidence based patient care and for providing invaluable support to the
patients family.
About You
You
will be a Registered Nurse with current NMC registration, who is able to
demonstrate a commitment to their own CPD. You will have excellent clinical
skills and experience and be able to work under supervision and on your own
initative to provide the highest standards of care and support to your patients
and their families. You will have good communication skills, with sound
experience of symptom management gained with a Hospice/Hospital or Nursing Home
environment. You will be willing to learn new skills and expression to develop
your own practices

If you live in Southampton and West Hampshire, Mountbatten Hampshire (formerly Countess Mountbatten Hospice) is your local hospice.
We are a charity which provides free care and support to people with any life-limiting illness, including respiratory disease, Motor Neurone Disease, heart disease, advanced dementia, respiratory disease and cancer. We also provide free bereavement and psychological support to patients and their families.
Much of our work takes places in people's own homes across our community.

To ensure the highest standards of individualised care for patients with life threatening
diseases including providing support to their families and carers in a safe, friendly and efficient
environment.
To communicate with patients, families and carers in a sensitive and empathetic way
maintaining effective communication with multi-disciplinary team members. To work part of a
multi professional team with professional shared learning under the supervision and guidance
of nurses and medical teams.
Although based on our Inpatient Unit, post holders may occasionally be required to work in
other teams to ensure adequate staffing levels and to gain experience of the wider hospice
delivery of care (e.g. Community Setting and Hazel Centre)

Give and receive regular reposts on the progress of patients, reporting immediately
any changes in the patients condition to the senior nurse/medical personnel as duty
as required.
