About us
Day One is a young, ambitious charity dedicated to supporting people affected by serious and life changing injury.
We currently deliver in person services in Yorkshire, Merseyside, Teesside, South Yorkshire and Greater Manchester; we also provide support virtually on a UK wide basis. Our longer-term aim is to continue to expand services across the UK in order to support people whenever and wherever they need us.
We work extremely closely with the NHS, through our hospital team and we have a commitment to grow our support beyond hospital, where we know that people are often alone and isolated trying to recover from their injuries without adequate support.
We have a growing, gold standard Peer Support service which is delivered remotely and in some places in person in a hospital setting. This service is delivered through lived experience volunteers, and it is our ambition to ensure that the lived experience of people affected by major injury is central to all of the charitys future operations.
With good networks, a growing base of supporters and a passionate team of staff and volunteers, we are making a real difference to people at a time when they are extremely vulnerable and need rapid access to a range of practical and emotional support interventions.
