Job summary

The Education and Development Lead role is an exciting opportunity, supporting The Childrens Air Ambulance operational team. You will also be trained as a TCAA Crew Member as part of this unique role, covering shifts you will have the opportunity to be part of our life changing transfers.

Main duties of the job

To lead on the training and development of The Childrens Air Ambulance (TCAA) operational staffalong with Clinical Partner Teams (CPTs) who are NHS specialists in paediatric and neonatal transfers. The Education and Development Lead is a vital link between TCAA and CPTs to support thedevelopment of specialist clinical transfer teams, to enable the best possible patient care during TCAAtransfers.

The Childrens Air Ambulance is a pioneering service, changing the face of paediatric and neonatal care through the high-speed transfer of critically ill babies and children providing inter-hospital transfer services, enabling patients to receive specialist care via the clinically designed helicopters which provide a flying intensive care unit for babies and children.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working within healthcare (5+ years).
  • Experience of managing training materials.
  • Experience of delivering training sessions.
  • Ability to utilise varied training styles to engage learners.
  • Ability to implement and sustain change to improve service delivery, whilst involving a team.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to communicate appropriately and effectively in person, over the phone / virtually, and in writing.
  • Knowledge of The Childrens Air Ambulance, its organisational values, and the service it provides.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to people, listen well, and communicate effectively and in a professional manner.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with colleagues, NHS teams and external stakeholders.
  • Be able to demonstrate an understanding for the need for confidentiality and how this can be maintained.
  • A good standard of physical fitness to facilitate lifting, bending, and carrying in the process of transporting patients.
  • Be able to cover Crew Member shifts when required (inc long days, weekends, bank holidays, incidental overtime).
  • Be able to empathise with people dealing with sensitive situations assertively and tactfully.
  • Be a positive, motivational, and engaging individual.
  • Be able to effectively manage and prioritise a changing working.
  • Be able to be resilient under pressure and to identify when support is needed for self or others.
  • An ability to travel in the UK, with access to a vehicle and work flexible hours.

Desirable

  • Experience of working within emergency care, retrieval services or intensive / critical care transfers.
  • Experience supporting or leading projects.
  • Understanding of NHS paediatric and neonatal retrieval teams and ambulance services.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent in Maths and English, Grace C or above.
  • Qualified as Emergency Ambulance Crew, Emergency Care Assistant,
  • equivalent or higher.
  • Full UK manual driving licence.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.

Desirable

  • Level 3 Award in Education and Training (or equivalent).
