Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join our dedicated support team based at Llys Glan Yr Afon, Newtown.

Llys Glan Yr Afon comprises of 48 individual apartments offering those that live there, independent living with access to on-site 24-hour care and support. The service is generic and therefore supports individuals with a wide age range and variety of support needs - including physical disability, mental health, learning disability and frailty.

Role Responsibilities:

All Adferiad Support Workers will have and be given the qualifications, experience, and competencies commensurate with the levels of care they are expected to provide and in accordance with the Social Services Wellbeing Act:

This includes supporting individuals if required with:

  • All aspects of personal care
  • Mobility and transfers all staff are trained in accordance with the All-Wales Manual Handling Passport
  • Administration of prescribed oral medication - all staff must complete Agored Cymru accredited Medication Training
  • Social Inclusion - accessing the local community and participating activities of their choice

Main duties of the job

Under the direction of the All-Wales Domiciliary Care Registered Manager Adferiad operates domiciliary care services including domiciliary home care service, palliative care service and respite service for Carers. In line with our commitment to principles of empowerment, self-management, wellbeing and recovery and ensuring compliance with internal and external quality standards inspection and regulation (including CIW).

As a support worker you will be working 1:1 as part of a dedicated support team providing individuals with day-to-day living support which may include support with personal care, medication, manual handling and social inclusion, while focusing on promoting the wellbeing, rights and independence of the individual, and achieving their identified and desired outcomes.

Rosters are carefully created and managed to ensure continuity of support staff for individuals and promote good work / life balance for support staff.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Understanding of the importance of confidentiality
  • Must have a basic understanding / be able to give examples of domiciliary care support that is delivered in individuals homes and what good support would look like
  • To understand responsibilities of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable adults and children
  • Must have knowledge of basic IT skills

Desirable

  • Ability to assess risk competently and complete risk assessments
  • Understanding of person-centred support and promoting individuals independence and wellbeing through this
  • Basic understanding of the role of the CIW
  • Basic understanding of the Social Services Wellbeing Act and Social Care Wales
