Job summary
The Sanctuary is a brand new service that will provide direct support to individuals suffering with various levels of mental illness accessing the Sanctuary. To facilitate practical interventions such as meals, beverages, washing facilities, emergency clothing, etc.
The service will provide an out of hours, non-accommodation-based service offering support between the hours of 17:00 to 02:00, 4 nights per week, 365 days per year.
You will support the needs of adults (aged over 17 years and 9 months) who are in, at the risk of, or at the point of a social/emotional crisis within the Swansea Bay University Health Board area.
Main duties of the job
Identify appropriate services and resources based on the individuals presenting needs and make appropriate referrals and or signposting.
Encourage and support clients to access appropriate services and resources as required.
Ensure all individuals accessing the Sanctuary are assisted in line with Adferiad Recoverys Recovery Plan.
Enable individuals to self-manage and find their own solutions to their own crisis in a non-judgemental, empathetic, and respectful way.
Provide somewhere to turn to for people (and those who have relationships with those) experiencing social/emotional crisis, anxiety, panic attacks, depression and/or having suicidal thoughts.
Provide a safe space for individuals to de-escalate and be supported in a relaxed, welcoming environment either in a 1-1 setting or an informal group/social setting.
Facilitate a communal area where individuals can relax, engage in activities, read a book etc. either on their own or in the company of others.
Provide 1-1 support sessions focusing on the presenting cause to help the individual find a way to recover/de-escalate from their immediate cause of crisis.
Support individuals in developing a short-term recovery plan for the proceeding hours/days/weeks.
Develop an individuals resilience through techniques to better self-manage their crisis.
