Job summary

To work as an independent non-medical prescriber within Adferiads services as required, taking responsibility for the clinical assessment of the patient, establishing a diagnosis and the clinical management required, as well as responsibility for prescribing where necessary and the appropriateness of any prescription issued.

To work alongside the medical Consultant and doctors to offer substitute prescribing regimes to improve health and promote recovery from the effects of Drug and Alcohol use and ensure maximum benefit to patients in terms of timely and efficient access to medications.

Experience

Essential

  • Minimum 5 years post registration experience.
  • Clinical experience in substance misuse.
  • Experience of working in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
  • Experience of implementing protocols and clinical guidelines.
  • Participation in Clinical Supervision.

Desirable

  • Experience of planning and providing harm reduction and recovery solutions in substance misuse environment
  • Audit experience.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Current NMC Registration.
  • Independent Nurse Prescriber qualification.
  • Evidence of recent CPD.

Desirable

  • Specialist qualification to degree level.
  • Nurse Practitioner qualification or working towards.
