We are
looking to appoint a talented and experienced Clinical Educator to join our
Learning & Development team supporting the professional development of
clinical staff, including the inpatient and community teams with some crossover
of people and interpersonal skills being developed and delivered to our
non-clinical colleagues.
You will
support the delivery of multi-disciplinary programmes, delivering exceptional
service by developing, implementing and evaluating educational and
developmental activities.

Main duties of the job
We have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse with a valid UK NMC registration to join our team, supporting colleagues to develop their clinical skills, and their competences and knowledge in palliative and end of life care. About us
Thames Hospice is an independent adult hospice with a beautiful 28 bed hospice at Bray Lake in Maidenhead with views of the lake and state of the art facilities.
We support people aged 16 and over who are living with life-limiting conditions such as cancer, neurological conditions, and organ failure, by combining specialist medical care for managing pain and other symptoms with other emotional, practical and spiritual support. We provide care on our Inpatient Services wings, and also virtually and in person though our community hub and in peoples home though our Hospice at Home service.

You will participate in the development and review of policies and
guidelines within the service and in line with best practice.
You will participate in audit, clinical review and research as
appropriate, encouraging staff participation and responding to learning
required from identified incidents.
Inform education and training programmes through the maintenance
of current clinical knowledge in palliative and end of life care and in
clinical skills, and through recognition of own development needs.
You will ensure the learner understands their responsibility in reporting concern/change in a patients clinical condition.

statistics to ensure the achievement of key performance indicators, and the
reporting of statistical and qualitative data to evidence the development and

will facilitate the demonstration of clinical competence for current and newly recruited staff, ensuring
competency assessments are up to date, monitored and recorded in accordance

Prepare and deliver classroom-based teaching sessions.
Work clinically as required to support learners, using appropriate teaching styles, equipment and technology to optimise learning.
Support
the Head of Education to provide mandatory and statutory training compliance
information for monthly Compliance and Quality meetings, quarterly board meetings,
KPI information, and any other reports as required.
Extending reach
As part of the Education team, you will work in collaboration with
external organisations such as Care / Nursing Homes to identify and provide
resources and delivery of teaching programmes.
Assist with student placements (e.g. Nurses, Paramedics, Nursing
Associates etc.) and provide support and teaching to staff and students with
this.
To represent Thames
Hospice and the Education Team through attendance at internal and external
meetings and forums relevant to the post.
