Job summary

St Teresas Hospice, Darlington is seeking Health Care Assistants to join our Hospice at Home team.

32 hours per week; usual working pattern 4 x 8 hour early or late shifts on a rota basis, 06:30-14:30, and 14:00-22:00

St Teresas Hospice Band 3, £24,049.00 - £24,975.00 per annum pro rata (£20,521.81 - £21,312.00 actual per annum for 32 hours per week), plus enhanced rates for unsociable hours.

Main duties of the job

We are a forward thinking, inclusive registered Charity with Inpatient, Outpatient and Community services, providing care and support to palliative patients and their families in their own homes and at St Teresa's Hospice.

In this post, you will work as a member of the nursing and multi-disciplinary team delivering care and giving support to patients with palliative care needs and their families, within patients own homes and in the Hospice. Our HCAs work in close collaboration with the District Nurses, GPs, Marie Curie nurses, Macmillan nurses, the Foundation Trust & other hospice services ensuring patient choice at the end of life.

Essential qualifications and skills include:

  • NVQ/QCF Level 3 qualification in Health & Social Care or equivalent qualification or experience or prepared to take relevant NVQ if not achieved.
  • Knowledge of care giving
  • Experience of working in a Healthcare setting, providing personal and/or clinical care
  • Experience of delivering Palliative Care
