Job summary

St Teresas Hospice, Darlington is seeking a Healthcare Assistant to join our Inpatient Unit team.

If you are passionate about palliative care and want to be part of an effective team that makes a real difference within the community, then this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

37.5 hours/3 shifts per week. Usual working pattern: 12.5 hour full day and night shifts on a rota, including weekdays and weekends - staff must be flexible to the needs of the unit.

St Teresas Hospice Band 3, £21,394 per annum, plus enhanced rates for unsociable hours. £250 signing on bonus.

Main duties of the job

We are a forward thinking, inclusive registered Charity with Inpatient, Outpatient and Community services, providing care and support to palliative patients and their families in their own homes and at St Teresas Hospice.

Our IPU Healthcare Assistants are an integral part of our team, with a strong commitment to working with palliative care patients and their carers, providing a high standard of care at all times. You will be based within the Inpatient Unit, and required to work across all Hospice services as and when required.

The successful candidate will have:

NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care, an equivalent qualification or equivalent experience

Experience of working in the NHS or an equivalent healthcare setting

Knowledge of care giving, and understanding of the principles of holistic care and palliative care

Availability to work shifts on a rota, including day, evening and night work, during the week and at weekends
