Job summary

St Teresas Hospice, Darlington is seeking a Housekeeper to support our housekeeping and domestic services at our Darlington Hospice.

16 hours per week, St Teresas Hospice Band 2, full time equivalent £20,803.00 per annum (£8,875.95 pro rata)

Hours are: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 3-6pm & Saturday 9-1pm

We are a forward thinking, inclusive registered Charity with inpatient unit, wellbeing hub and community services, providing care and support to palliative patients and their families in their own homes and at St Teresas Hospice. We are looking for a housekeeper to support our team, ensuring cleanliness in the Hospice to enable the Hospice to run smoothly. Other housekeeping duties include and laundry, ironing, working with IPU staff and volunteers and preparing simple nutritional meals.

Main duties of the job

  • To assist with the cleaning of all areas of the Hospice as required to the specified standards

  • To assist with the laundry and ironing as necessary

  • To work with volunteers in order to carry out any duties

  • Other related duties as required, to ensure the Hospice is fit for purpose.

The successful candidate will

  • Have Level 1 or higher standard of literacy and numeracy (equivalent to GCSE Grade G/1 or higher qualification not required)
  • Have previous housekeeping, cleaning or similar experience in a professional capacity.
  • Have a passion for maintaining high standards of cleanliness in line with health and social care guidance.
  • Be reliable, and able to work under minimum supervision.

An induction and ongoing training will be provided. Successful applicants are required to provide a standard disclosure. Disclosure expense will be met by St Teresas Hospice. All posts are subject to a six-month probationary period.
