We are currently recruiting for a Community Engagement Coordinator to be based at Sue Ryder Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice in Keighley.

Main duties of the job

The Community Engagement Coordinator will work as part of the Wellbeing and Community Support Services team who are responsible for helping us to provide more of the support that people need, in more accessible ways, to more communities.

They will do this by:

Introducing a range of emotional support aligned to the specific needs of the individual.

Connecting service users or families with practical support, where needed, including links to social care.

Working with relevant local faith and community leaders, local organisations and other local groups and individuals to support spiritual and specialist diverse needs of service users and family members.

Increasing Sue Ryders wellbeing community-based services

Continuing to develop and implement local and national initiatives which support the wellbeing of staff and volunteers across the Charity.

They will be embedded within the local community to bring the voice of those people into Sue Ryder and to help connect those using Sue Ryder services with the right people and organisations that will provide them with the right support in way that meets their needs.

They will build connections and trust with local faith leaders, community groups, organisations and groups who support individuals with protected characteristics as well as other third sector organisations such as homeless charities and those supporting refugees for example.

  • To be successful in your application to the post of Community Engagement Coordinator, you must be able to demonstrate confident presentation and communication skills to external groups.
  • Additionally, you should be able to demonstrate:
  • Experience in managing or working as part of teams delivering projects within diverse or minority communities and
  • The ability to understand the challenges that inequalities may bring to the diverse communities represented across the area
  • Knowledge of health or social care desirable
  • Ability to deliver multiple priorities simultaneously and to a timeline
  • Excellent communication style alongside the ability to work with people at all levels and across all faiths, abilities and diverse communities
  • Experience of working independently and remotely
  • Strong experience of networking and building positive relationships
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to quickly build trust and strong networks
  • Competent IT skills
