Main duties of the job
About the role
To provide specialist palliative care in our 16 bedded in-patient unit plus support to our Community Services if needed, on a part-time basis.
The main duties of this post are providing medical cover plus participation in the out of hours rotas.
Part Time: All day Monday and all day Friday, plus 4h Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays mornings (frequency 1:7) PLUS an on call commitment (Mon-Sun) 1:6

Leckhampton Court is a Sue Ryder hospice, based in Gloucestershire. Were here for people aged 18 and over living with conditions like cancer, heart failure and lung disease. It provides the only specialist hospice care inpatient unit in the county of Gloucestershire.
We offer a range of support, from inpatient care in our 16-bed hospice, set in the foot of the Cotswold Hills and surrounded by beautiful countryside, to day services and Hospice at Home which helps people stay at home longer and offers respite to carers.
The Hospice is looking for a Specialty Doctor to help us provide specialist palliative care in our in-patient unit, Day Hospice, and community on a part time basis.

Clinical / Technical Responsibility
Carry out medical assessment, diagnosis and management of new admissions
To assess patients in their own homes or as out-patients if needed.
Ensure good practice, symptom control and holistic care for patients, their family and carers whilst in the Hospice.
Completion of necessary data on SystmOne related to deaths or discharges of patients from the palliative care unit.
Work collaboratively with other professionals and agencies to ensure patients needs are met, especially in relation to on-going and continuity of care
Weekend sessions (10 am 2 pm) will be in conjunction with doctor on call
When on call to be available out of hours to give telephone advice throughout the on call period, and to come to the hospice if requested

- Have completed the equivalent of 4 years full time post graduate training, at least 2 of which are in a related speciality
- Evidence of continued professional development within specialty
- This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure from the Criminal Records Bureau
- Evidence of collaborative working
- Up-to date clinical skills and competencies in specialty
- An ability to challenge traditional boundaries using an evidence base
- Effective communication of complex information in a variety of settings
- Excellent interpersonal skills
