There has never been a more important time to provide high quality, specialist end-of-life care to support patients and their families.

Main duties of the job

The hospice has undergone a period of service development, and we are now looking for a Physiotherapist to meet the needs of our patients. The role will primarily cover our 16 bedded inpatient unit but will also occasionally support colleagues working in our Community Hub and in patients homes.

Responsible for assessment of service user needs in relation particularly to optimising independence and physical function, and symptom control

Responsible to devise a formal plan for families and carers to provide physiotherapy interventions as part of overall care

To liaise and communicate with other health and social care professionals and volunteers in the planning and delivery of physiotherapy

To ensure appropriate prescription, provision and maintenance of equipment within available resources

To ensure that up to date written and electronic records are maintained in accordance with Professional and Charity standards, and that sensitive information is held securely

To demonstrate clinical leadership and promote clinical supervision. To share knowledge and expertise with other staff through formal and informal teaching

Facilitating the safe and smooth running of the Service, the post holder is expected to maintain a safe working environment, maintain service user confidentiality, and occasionally taking on reasonable additional tasks

  • HCPC registration and clinical experience in rehabilitation or palliative care
  • Ability to tailor therapy interventions to individual needs and capabilities
  • Clear communication and documentation skills
  • Knowledge of accessibility, safe handling, and mobility aids

Desirable

  • Experience with lymphoedema or malignant disease
  • Manual handling trainer qualification
